چکیده

We present deep F606W, F814W ACS photometry of the recently discovered globular cluster B514, the outermost known globular in the M31 galaxy. The cluster appears quite extended and member stars are unequivocally identified out to ∼ 200 pc from the center. The Color Magnitude Diagram reveals a steep Red Giant Branch (RGB), and a Horizontal Branch (HB) extending blue ward of the instability strip, indicating that B514 is a classical old metal-poor globular cluster. The RGB locus and the position of the RGB Bump are both consistent with a metallicity [Fe/H ] ∼ −1.8, in excellent agreement with spectroscopic estimates. A preliminary estimate of the integrated absolute V magnitude (MV . −9.1) suggests that B514 is among the brightest globulars of M31. The extended structure of the remote cluster B 514 in M 31 Detection of extra - tidal stars ⋆ , ⋆ ⋆

Aims. We present a study of the density profile of the remote M31 globular cluster B514, obtained from HST/ACS observations. Methods. Coupling the analysis of the distribution of the integrated light with star counts we are able to reliably follow the profile of the cluster out to r ∼ 35 ′′ , corresponding to ≃ 130 pc. The profile is well fitted, out to ∼ 15 core radii, by a King Model having C...

The outermost cluster of M 31 ⋆

We report on the identification of a new cluster in the far halo of the M31 galaxy. The cluster, named Bologna 514 (B514) has an integrated magnitude M V = −8.5 ± 0.6, and a radial velocity, as estimated from two independent low-resolution spectra, V r = −456 ± 23 km/s, which fully confirms its membership to the M31 system. The observed integrated spectrum is very similar to those of classical ...

UBRI Photometry of Globular Clusters in the Leo Group Galaxy NGC

We present wide area UBRI photometry for globular clusters around the Leo group galaxy NGC 3379. Globular cluster candidates are selected from their B-band magnitudes and their (U–B)o vs (B–I)o colours. A colour-colour selection region was defined from photometry of the Milky Way and M31 globular cluster systems. We detect 133 globular cluster candidates which, supports previous claims of a low...

Identification and photometry of globular clusters in M 31 and M 33 galaxies

We have used the data from the DIRECT project to search for new globular cluster candidates in the M31 and M33 galaxies. We have found 67 new objects in M31 and 35 in M33 and confirmed 38 and 16 previously discovered ones. A V I and BV I photometry has been obtained for all the clusters in M31 and M33 respectively. Luminosity functions have been constructed for the clusters in each galaxy and c...

Age Constraints for an M31 Globular Cluster from Seds-fit

We have constrained the age of the globular cluster S312 in the Andromeda galaxy (M31) by comparing its multicolor photometry with theoretical stellar population synthesis models. This is both a check on the age of this globular cluster, as well a check on our methodology. Main-sequence photometry has been the most direct method for determining the age of a star cluster. S312 was observed as pa...
